A trauma surgeon with 20 years of Canadian Forces experience including five deployments to Afghanistan, Bosnia, and the Golan Heights, he completed medical school at Queen's University, general surgery residency at the University of Toronto, and a trauma fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and has worked as a trauma surgeon at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto and as a surgeon with the Red Cross following the Haiti earthquake.
