Gumloop

Max Brodeur-Urbas and Rahul Behal, former Microsoft and AWS engineers and McGill classmates, started Gumloop in a Vancouver bedroom in mid-2023. The project began as a wrapper around Auto-GPT for nontechnical members of a Discord community, became AgentHub, and then adopted the Gumloop brand as the founders narrowed the problem from open-ended autonomy to reliable, inspectable business workflows. The core product evolved from a drag-and-drop canvas of nodes and reusable flows into a multiplayer enterprise agent builder: employees can describe or visually assemble agents, connect 300+ applications and MCP servers, ground work in a permission-aware Company Brain, select among 35+ foundation models, run code and reusable skills, schedule or trigger work, and expose agents through Slack, Teams or interfaces. IT receives SAML/SCIM, RBAC, audit logs, model and connector policies, data-retention controls, usage analytics and optional VPC deployment. Gumstack, launched in 2026 as a second product, inventories MCP servers and records AI tool calls across Gumloop and third-party agents so security teams can detect shadow AI and enforce access policy. The company completed YC W24 and announced a $3.1m seed led by First Round in July 2024, a $17m Series A led by Nexus Venture Partners in January 2025, and a $50m all-equity Series B led by Benchmark in March 2026, for approximately $70.1m of disclosed capital. The syndicate also includes Y Combinator, Liquid 2 Ventures, WndrCo, BoxGroup, The Cannon Project and Shopify Ventures plus numerous operator angels. Customer evidence spans Shopify, Ramp, Gusto, Samsara, Instacart, Opendoor, Webflow and Rippling. Shopify reported roughly 20m actions automated across thousands of internal workflows and invested through Shopify Ventures. Gumloop reported almost 500,000 nodes executed daily in July 2024 and thousands of users by January 2025. By the Series B it had expanded from the founders-only Series A team to approximately 24 employees, while third-party professional-network data suggested roughly 49 by August 2026. Current self-service Pro pricing starts at $37/month with 20,000 credits, unlimited seats/agents and an 8% orchestration fee; Enterprise is negotiated. Principal risks are intense competition from Zapier, n8n, Microsoft, OpenAI/Anthropic, Dust and other agent platforms; model/API dependency and rapidly shifting capabilities; erroneous autonomous actions; credential and prompt-injection exposure across connectors; usage-cost unpredictability; enterprise security/procurement cycles; and the need to turn product-led employee adoption into durable organization-wide contracts.

Founding story

Brodeur-Urbas first explored an Auto-GPT wrapper and a tool for nontechnical Discord users. After an original collaborator quit, he reconnected with McGill classmate Behal at a Vancouver software meetup. They built from a bedroom, focused AI on bounded workflows instead of unreliable open-ended autonomy, and entered YC W24 as AgentHub/Gumloop.
