Evrika

Evrika (株式会社Evrika) is a Tokyo-based education company that operates the Evrika chain of children's after-school learning studios. The company was established on 28 April 2016 and started as a "Todai-style" (University of Tokyo method) soroban, or Japanese abacus, classroom. It has since broadened into a multi-subject studio model intended to let families take several types of lessons in one location, covering abacus and mental arithmetic, academic tutoring, English, programming, calligraphy and speed reading.

Beyond classroom operations, the company's stated business lines include visiting classes at kindergartens and elementary schools, dispatch of abacus instructors, mergers and acquisitions of abacus schools, and advertising operations and design work. Founding story

The company was established on 28 April 2016 as a "Todai-style" abacus classroom, built around a mental-arithmetic learning method devised by University of Tokyo students with the stated aim of developing calculation ability useful up to University of Tokyo entrance exams. It subsequently added other subjects to create studios where multiple lessons could be taken in one place.

Business model

Evrika earns fees from parents for children's lesson courses, charging an enrollment fee plus monthly tuition tiered by grade level and weekly hours, with additional per-hour spot lessons and discounted seasonal intensive sessions. Tuition-based: a ¥16,500 course enrollment fee (waived for existing members and their families) plus monthly tuition, for example ¥24,200–¥28,600 per month for a two-hour-per-week small-group individual course depending on grade, and ¥28,160–¥39,600 per month for one-hour-per-week one-to-one instruction depending on grade and instructor tier. Per-hour spot lessons and reduced-rate holiday-period intensive classes are also sold, including to non-enrolled students.
