Envio

Envio is a British company whose product, Artac, is a connected digital shipping label and asset tracker intended to replace printed labels, separate tracking devices and data loggers with a single reusable device. The label uses an E Ink display that can be updated remotely over cellular networks, so shipping information can be changed without a printer, ribbons or paper. Envio positions the device for reusable packaging and circular logistics, and markets it across aviation, cold chain, medical logistics, equipment rental and event/tradeshow use cases.

The hardware measures 180 x 126 x 13.3 mm, weighs 300 g and uses Gorilla Glass with a water-, dust- and impact-resistant construction that can be retrofitted to a range of reusable packaging types. Connectivity covers 2G, 4G, NB-IoT and LTE-M cellular, plus Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, with GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou positioning; onboard sensors cover G-force, tilt, temperature and light. Battery life is stated at one to eight months with USB recharging, and the device carries FCC, ISED, CE and UN 38.3 certifications. It is compatible with the industry-standard 4x6 shipping label format and is manufactured and tested in the United Kingdom.

Alongside the device, Envio provides a browser-based dashboard for uploading label images, viewing live and historic location and sensor data and configuring geozone and sensor event notifications, and a REST API covering all data and device control functions, including an image-processing service that reformats uploaded images for the displays. The platform is hosted on AWS. Envio has also operated a consumer-facing rental offering, Envio Rentals, in which brands let customers try products such as speakers and scanners for a fixed trial fee with prepaid return labels, deposits and the option to purchase.

Business model

Envio supplies the Artac digital shipping label device together with a browser-based dashboard and REST API for label updates, tracking and sensor data, sold to enterprises operating reusable packaging and returnable asset flows. A separate Envio Rentals offering hosts branded try-before-you-buy rental pages where customers pay a trial fee plus, for some products, a refundable deposit that is returned within three business days of return inspection.

Traction

Artac is approved for use across Air Canada's aircraft fleet under IATA guidelines, integrated with Zebra ZS300 sensors as a Zebra ISV partner, showcased by Purolator at the CLUE Annual Logistics Symposium, deployed in reusable cold-chain packaging for NHS blood products, and used by REALIT to relabel and track a laser scanner rental fleet in North America. A ZS case study with a global MedTech company projected savings of $6 million to $11 million a year from rerouting unused loaner kits.

Latest developments

In February 2026 Envio announced a cold chain visibility integration with Zebra; in March 2026 it published work on medical device loaner kit operations; in April 2026 Artac received approval for use across Air Canada's global network; and in July 2026 it published a case study on REALIT's laser scanner rental fleet. Artac is also named in DHL's 2026 Logistics Trend Radar.
