Founding story

The company was founded by Gilad Tal, Amir Gilad, Ehud Eliaz and Ohad Gamliel, a team drawn from Amazon AWS and the semiconductor industry, with three of the four co-founders having combined hardware and software experience. The founders' stated premise was that data processing, the largest workload still running on general-purpose CPUs, requires purpose-built processors in the way AI workloads use GPUs.

Business model

DualBird sells an acceleration engine delivered as a lightweight framework plug-in that runs on cloud instances with rewritable hardware, so enterprises obtain specialized hardware performance without deploying hardware themselves. Onboarding is designed to be migration-free: customers switch their EC2 instance type and install the Spark plugin.

On 5 November 2025 DualBird announced $25 million in combined Seed and Series A funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with Bessemer Venture Partners, Angular Ventures and Uncork Capital participating; the Series A component was $17 million and followed an earlier $8 million Seed. Funds are directed at sales, customer success, go-to-market and enterprise partnerships ahead of general availability in early 2026.
