Drakula

Drakula is a mobile short-form video application published on the Google Play Store under the developer account of Showtime Technologies, Inc. The app presents itself as a social media product where users watch a continuous, personalized stream of videos, follow creators, and discover creators before they become widely known. The Play Store listing is rated for Teen audiences, notes user interaction and in-app purchases, and states that the app may collect personal information, photos and videos, and other data types, that data is encrypted in transit, that no data is shared with third parties, and that users can request data deletion.

Drakula's founder, Alex Masmej, describes the product in an April 2024 podcast interview as a "SocialFi" application combining elements of TikTok, friend.tech, Farcaster, and $DEGEN. Masmej is also the founder of Showtime, an earlier project started in 2021 around digital art and NFTs, and of the personal $ALEX token. In the interview he discusses building a TikTok-like app, noting that the recommendation algorithm remains a difficult problem the team must work on, and speculating about later integrating AI video generation tools (such as Sora-type APIs) to make it easier to create Drakula videos.
