Decade Energy is an energy infrastructure and electrification provider for mobility sites and logistics depots. It develops and operates new grid connections, battery energy storage systems (BESS), AC and DC EV charging infrastructure, solar photovoltaic installations, and a proprietary energy optimization software platform that balances loads and reduces peak demand. The company positions securing long-term grid capacity as the starting point of depot electrification, arguing that electric fleets require large amounts of power at a time when grid access is constrained.

The offering is aimed at two customer groups: transport operators, who need assured power and charging at their depots, and real estate owners, who can generate income by hosting infrastructure and monetizing charging for tenants and visitors. Founding story

Decade Energy was established in 2024 by the team behind electric truck maker Volta Trucks and its Truck-as-a-Service subsidiary, following Volta Trucks entering administration in late 2023. Co-founders identified as Casper Norden (CEO), Carl-Magnus Norden (Chairman), Alexandre Cleret (COO), Alejandro Ortega Peniche and Mariela Atanasova.

Business model

Decade Energy develops, finances and operates integrated energy infrastructure at logistics depots under a zero-CapEx model, bearing the capital investment itself so operators and property owners avoid upfront expenditure. It combines grid connection development, battery storage, charging hardware and optimization software into an end-to-end service, and runs a €50 million infrastructure program open to applicants.

Revenue comes from rental agreements with logistics property owners that provide site access for infrastructure deployment, from BESS participation in energy markets where the company is compensated for balancing grid fluctuations, and from EV charging services sold to fleet operators and tenants at depot sites. Property owners are offered fixed monthly income for unused space plus charging monetization.

Traction

The company reports more than 1,500 depot feasibility studies conducted across Europe, over 100 projects under development, and 50 projects set to begin construction in 2026. Following its €22 million raise it targets a portfolio of at least 100MW of BESS projects.

Latest developments

In April 2026 Decade Energy announced €22 million in funding to scale depot power infrastructure for truck electrification in Europe. Proceeds are earmarked for scaling infrastructure deployment in France toward at least 100MW of BESS projects, international expansion into Germany, the Nordics and Poland, and further development of its energy optimization software plus new truck charging and photovoltaic products.
