Dairy Australia is the national services body for the Australian dairy industry. It describes its role as improving farm profitability by increasing herd and feed productivity and cost efficiency, while supporting sustainable on-farm practices. Alongside this, it promotes Australian dairy, works to build community trust in the industry and seeks to expand market opportunities for dairy products.

The organisation publishes farmer-facing information and resources across areas including biosecurity and avian influenza preparedness, management of fuel and fertiliser supply disruptions, employment guidance and templates (following the integration of People in Dairy resources), and performance measurement for dairy businesses. It also runs research programs, such as work on obtaining more milk from clover-rich pastures, and hosts industry events. Corporate materials published on its site include an Annual Investment Plan setting out priority investments and initiatives, strategic plans and performance reporting, and governance information.

Dairy Australia additionally produces industry analysis used by media and the wider sector, including forecasts of national milk production and the National Dairy Farmer Survey tracking farmer sentiment.
