Cleveron describes itself as a specialist in automated click-and-collect for retail and is characterised as a leader in last-mile parcel automation, with more than 3,000 installations in over 50 countries, 17 years of operation and deployments with several of the world's largest retailers. History

After the 2010 sale of SmartPOST to Itella, Cleveron registered its first EU trademark (2010) and presented the concept for what it describes as the world's first robotic parcel locker in 2011. A new office and development centre opened in Viljandi in 2014, the year the CleverBox locker (later renamed Cleveron 302) was introduced. The next-generation Cleveron 401 robotic locker launched in 2015, the same year the CollectNet open locker network was set up in Estonia; Walmart began piloting the robots in 2016 and by 2020 more than 1,500 Pickup Towers were installed in US Walmart stores. The extendable CleverFlex, later Cleveron 402, arrived in 2017 and was first installed by Inditex in a ZARA store in 2018, the year Cleveron also unveiled a home parcel locker, the Lotte self-driving delivery robot prototype and a unified product-naming system. In 2019 the company launched a two-temperature grocery pickup robot (Cleveron 501) and founded the Cleveron Academy with the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences; 2020 brought the Cleveron 351 for small businesses and an augmented-reality remote installation tool. A digital agency concept with Telia followed in 2021, an ICA pilot in Sweden in 2022, the battery-powered Cleveron 354 in 2023, and the Cleveron 355 for oversized parcels plus the appointment of Per Klavsen as CEO in 2024. In January 2025 a redesigned Cleveron 403 was launched.

Risks & controversies

Cleveron has been engaged in intellectual property disputes: in 2017 it found that a Chinese company had registered a patent for an invention Cleveron says it had already created, and it subsequently won a case against the China National Intellectual Property Administration in the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, invalidating that patent. A Cleveron product roadmap item, the Lotte self-driving courier, was stated as being ready for street testing in summer 2020 following its 2018 prototype reveal.
