Carwow operates an online platform through which consumers in the UK can buy a new car, lease a car, browse used cars, or sell a car they already own. Buyers search by model, body type (SUVs, hatchbacks, saloons, coupes, estates, people carriers, sports cars, convertibles, vans), fuel type (including electric and hybrid) or budget band, and the platform passes their requirements to local and national partner dealers, who respond with offers. Sellers answer a short set of questions about their vehicle, receive offers from partners, and, on accepting one, have collection arranged. The company states the service is free to consumers, with no fees and no haggling, and that it connects users with all major manufacturers and thousands of vetted dealers.

Alongside the transactional marketplace, Carwow publishes editorial content: scored written car reviews, news and advice articles, and video content, presented by Mat Watson with a team of writers. The site also hosts electric-vehicle tools such as a charging point map, running-cost and charging-cost comparisons, and lists of electric cars with short delivery times. Model listings display cash prices, monthly lease prices, average savings off RRP, and flag eligibility for the UK Government EV Grant.
