Boxhero

BoxHero is a cloud-based inventory management application aimed at small businesses and small teams. Core capabilities include real-time stock updates across locations, barcode scanning via a phone camera or a handheld scanner, custom barcode label printing on standard or thermal printers, low stock alerts based on user-set safety stock levels, inventory counts to reconcile discrepancies, and reporting and analytics, including custom reports that can be generated with an AI assistant.

Items can be organized with custom attributes such as brand, size, color and manufacturer, and inventory data can be imported and exported through Excel with bulk actions. Higher-tier functionality covers multiple locations and stock transfers, unlimited transaction history, purchases and sales with invoicing and vendor management, return orders, product bundles, team collaboration with roles and permissions, past-quantity and summary views, and Inventory Link for sharing inventory data with external partners. Documented use cases span inventory control, asset tracking, IT asset management, supplies and raw materials tracking, order management and warehouse management at warehouse and rack level.

The service is available in a browser and as applications for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, with automatic syncing across devices and offline use on mobile. It offers an API, webhooks and integrations including Slack, and publishes user documentation and video tutorials.

Software-as-a-service sold on a subscription basis directly to businesses, with a free tier and paid team plans; the product is self-serve, with sign-up online and an optional demo.

Tiered subscriptions. A free Personal Plan covers 1 member, 100 items and 1 location with basic transactions, barcode scanning, 30-day transaction history, Excel import/export, real-time updates, web and mobile access and API access. The Business Plan costs $24 per team per month, or $288 annually (billed annually, described as a 20% saving), and covers 3 members, 1,000 items and 3 locations plus advanced features. A 30-day free trial of Business Plan features is offered without a credit card.

Traction

Customer testimonials from small business owners and warehouse staff describe multi-year use of the product, some since 2022. Indian home-decor social enterprise Sirohi has used BoxHero for more than three years after its founder found the app in the App Store, using over 30 custom attributes to categorize inventory as the team grew from four to 22 people and expanded beyond the 37 SKUs it managed in 2021.
