API capabilities include a federated API Control Plane spanning multiple gateway vendors, an API Gateway, and a developer portal. Data capabilities include discovery, cataloging, and preparation tools originating from Unifi Software, master data management via Boomi DataHub, and change data capture and ELT from the Rivery acquisition, plus managed file transfer from the Thru acquisition. Agentstudio provides a framework for building and deploying AI agents that automate integration, data management, and workflow tasks, and the platform exposes MCP connectors and responsible-AI security and compliance standards.

History

Founded in 2000 in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, Boomi began with "configuration-based" integration and launched its services in 2007 with the release of AtomSphere, a browser-managed integration cloud with a point-and-click build experience. Dell announced its acquisition of Boomi on November 2, 2010. Under Dell, Boomi acquired cloud development platform company ManyWho in March 2017 and Unifi Software in December 2019, obtained FedRAMP authorization for its iPaaS in August 2019, and released its Integration Center of Excellence service in February 2020. On May 2, 2021, Francisco Partners and TPG Capital announced a definitive agreement to acquire Boomi from Dell Technologies for $4 billion. Steve Lucas was appointed Chairman and CEO in December 2022. Subsequent acquisitions included APIIDA AG's federated API management business and API management assets (including Mashery) from Cloud Software Group in May 2024, Rivery in December 2024, and Thru, Inc. in May 2025.
