Market position

Blueflite is a small US cargo-drone OEM competing in the emerging drone logistics and advanced air mobility market. It emphasizes US design and manufacturing, which has supported regulatory clearances such as FCC conditional approval under the Covered List framework and inclusion on the FAA's Section 44807 approved UAS list. It cites third-party projections that the drone market will more than triple over five years and that global parcel volumes will rise from 159 billion in 2021 to 256 billion by 2027.

Production incorporates HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing for up to 48 parts per unit, including lattice-structured battery casings.

Blueflite sells drones and engineering, pilot-project and consulting services directly, and builds partnerships across the logistics and airspace ecosystem (for example with Airspace Link and DroneUp) and with academic and economic-development bodies. History

Founded in 2018 and previously known as Flugauto, the company developed its tilt-rotor cargo drone platform and logistics software while generating revenue from projects, engineering and consulting. It ran an equity crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine (offering closed April 2023) after earlier raising several million dollars from grants and investors including Techstars and C-level executives. In 2025 it announced a partnership with Airspace Link and a Michigan AAM Activation Fund-backed automotive parts delivery pilot in Detroit with Jack Demmer Ford, Centrepolis Accelerator and DroneUp; flew search-and-rescue demonstrations with the U.S. Coast Guard in Grand Traverse County; reached a milestone in a drone range partnership with Charles Darwin University; won a Centrepolis Accelerator award; and, under the Darkflite brand, received an AFWERX SBIR Direct-to-Phase II contract and a 'Make It in Michigan' mobility prototyping grant. In 2026 it announced FCC conditional approval for the COBALT 46 platform and the addition of the Cobalt 461 to the FAA's Section 44807 approved UAS list.

Risks & controversies

Sources describe dependence on an evolving regulatory environment, including the need for the FAA to enable routine beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations under a 240-day deadline set by a June 2025 executive order. The StartEngine offering carried standard disclosure that the investment is speculative, illiquid and involves a high degree of risk including possible total loss. Founder Frank Noppel's earlier startup, the UK air-taxi operator Ambeo formed in 2008, was dissolved in 2013.
