Founding story

BlockTempo was founded in late 2017 by Joey Luo and Yu-Ting (Mike) Lin, who met through the dance club at National Chengchi University. Luo first encountered Bitcoin as a university freshman and began investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins and ICOs in 2016, concluding that blockchain would affect industries beyond finance, including entertainment and law. At the time, reliable Chinese-language information about blockchain was scarce in Taiwan and the sector contained many scams; the founders saw this information gap as an opportunity and started BlockTempo to supply accurate and timely blockchain news and educational material. They also concluded that formal education could not keep pace with the field, and so built a community-oriented platform for sharing current developments and closing the information gap between Taiwan and the international blockchain community.
