ArmorText provides a secure out-of-band collaboration platform used by enterprises to communicate during cyberattacks and other crises. The company's premise is that network-integrated tools such as email, Slack and Microsoft Teams become untrustworthy once an attacker is inside the corporate network, and that consumer end-to-end encrypted messengers (WhatsApp, Signal) fail enterprise requirements because they do not support user management, policy enforcement or retention of business records. ArmorText frames its offering around three requirements it calls Secure Out of Band Collaboration: no dependency on the customer's network (including no reliance on on-premise components, Active Directory or single sign-on), security that extends beyond end-to-end encryption to defend against compromised administrator credentials and provider-side access, and compliance capabilities including user management, policy definition and archive retention without self-hosting.

The platform is positioned to work alongside a customer's existing communications stack rather than replace it, under an approach the company markets as a "Tier & Protect Strategy," in which communications are tiered by sensitivity and protected accordingly under a zero-trust model. The company states deployment can be completed in under an hour, which it presents as important for organizations already in the middle of an incident. Applications are distributed for iOS, Android, macOS, Windows (32- and 64-bit) and Linux. Beyond crisis use, the company describes uses spanning security operations, incident response coordination, multi-organization threat intelligence sharing, executive communication and business continuity. ArmorText also publishes educational and thought-leadership material, including open-source incident response tabletop exercise guides co-published with law firm Crowell & Moring LLP under a Creative Commons license, and a self-assessment tool for grading incident response communications plans.
