아미코젠

아미코젠(Amicogen, Inc.) is a South Korean industrial biotechnology company founded in May 2000 to develop, produce and sell enzymes and new bio-materials based on biotechnology. Its core platform is a proprietary molecular gene evolution technology (marketed as iDNA evolution) used to engineer enzymes so they can withstand industrial process conditions, together with biocatalysis and microbial metabolic engineering capabilities. The company describes itself as Korea's leading enzyme specialist and states it was the first in the world to develop the first-stage specialty enzyme (CPC acylase) for cephalosporin antibiotic synthesis, which it licensed to a European multinational pharmaceutical company.

The business is organized into three divisions: enzymes and biopharmaceuticals; healthcare and nutrition; and bioprocess/CDMO. Product lines include pharmaceutical and industrial specialty enzymes (such as CX enzymes, SP, and immobilized cefradine acylase AMK518), enzyme-based bio-materials (N-acetylglucosamine, DCI/PI, collagen peptide, fucoxanthin, chito-oligosaccharide), customized protein purification resins and ligands for biologics and biosimilars, cell culture media supplements, the Denarase product, and finished health functional foods under the K-NUTRA (케이뉴트라) brand, plus OEM/ODM/CDMO services. Manufacturing infrastructure is described as GMP- and FDA-certified, and the company states that R&D personnel account for about 30% of its workforce.

Amicogen operates a group of affiliated and subsidiary companies spanning bio, healthcare and precision medicine: Amicogen (China) Biopharm, Shandong Amicogen Biotechnology (SAB), the Vietnamese joint venture Aminavico with listed partner Navico (gelatin and collagen peptides), Amicogen C&C (chitin/chitosan, consolidated as a subsidiary on 2014-05-07), probiotics/microbiome company bifido, network-marketing distributor Amicogen Pacific (AP), dermatologist-founded cosmetics firm SKINMED, and Lopy Bio (로피바이오).
